DADS - Data Acquisition Delivery System

The DADS receives lateral, vertical, and longitudinal 'g' force data from the LG Alert at a rate of 10 times per second. This information is written into a circular memory configuration that holds approximately 16 minutes of data. When the memory is full, the DADS returns to the beginning of the memory and starts overwriting previously saved data. Two additional analog inputs and four digital inputs are provided, allowing data collection from other devices such as steering wheel angle sensors, brake pedal position sensors and impact switches.

When a programmable event ('g' force limit) is reached, the DADS will stop recording and enter a safemode after approximately 1 minute. Approximately 15 minutes of data leading up to the event and 1 minute of data after the event will be contained in memory. After the DADS has been tripped it will remain tripped until manually re-enabled using a computer. At this time data can be offloaded and analyzed. The DADS can then be restarted from the setup utility for subsequent deployments.

For training purposes, the downloaded information from the DADS can be used to develop driving skills, providing graphical data in response to driver actions and the vehicle's reactions.
